National Poison Prevention Week

The US Congress established National Poison Prevention Week on September 16th, 1961. More than two million poisonings are reported each year to the 57 poison control centers across the country. More than 90 percent of poisonings occur in the home. The majority of non-fatal poisonings occur in children younger than six years old. And, poisonings are one of the leading causes of death among adults. For these reasons alone, we should be prepared if we ever find ourselves in a situation involving poison. This blog will help you in regards to raising awareness for National Poison Prevention Week which occurs between March 15th-21st this year

MAPPING MEASLES

MEASLES is the greatest vaccine-preventable killer of children in the world today. Nine out of ten people who are not immunised will contract the virus if they share the same living space with an infected person. In 1980 the disease was responsible for 2.6m deaths globally. By 2013, when 84% of children aged 12 months or less received a dose of the vaccine, the death toll had fallen to 145,700.
