Over the past three years more cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in the US. Although it is not a new virus it is becoming more prevalent. Most cases are reported during the summer months. Most cases have no or only minor flu-like symptoms. Some cases can be more severe and devastating. There is no treatment and no vaccine. The only treatment is awareness and protection.

Insect repellents are helpful. Be aware of when mosquitos are out. They are the vector and carry the virus. If you see dead birds report them. Avoid standing water. Report abandoned pools.
